My Story

Hello! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Catholic Church, and we go on Mondays and Wednesdays. We trust our salvation in Christ. I am in good health. I want to ask for your prayers for my mother because she is having low back pain. She has already visited a doctor and is taking medicine. Besides that, the rest of my family and I are doing well. My mother is Angelica Ajqui, and she is 42 years old. She does the household work, and she raises hens, ducks and sheep to sell to help herself economically. My father is Sebastian de la Cruz, and he is 53 years old. He works as a farmer and day laborer to cover our family needs. At home, we grow corn for the family's consumption.

My name is Yonel De La Cruz Ajqui, and I am 14 years old. I attended 5th grade this year; my learning improved a lot since I received classes at school. My parents were striving to supply what I needed for school, and it was hard because now school supplies are very expensive. My dream is to continue with my studies, and hopefully, my parents can support me. The sport I like the most is football. My favorite drink is oatmeal. I like Christmas and New Years; my family gets together in those dates, and we eat “tamales” (a typical dish from Guatemala). Due to limited resources, we do not celebrate our birthdays. Take care.
