My Story

My name is Sheyli, and I am excited to share my last news with you through this means. My family and I attend a Christian Church every Saturday. We believe in the Almighty and trust He will take us to heaven. I want you to know that a member of the LW staff spoke with my mother to collect my news for you. She also encouraged my family through my mother to continue growing spiritually. The feeding program is an enormous help in my community. Therefore, we are deeply grateful for all the support. My mother, Petronila Ajqui, is 30 years old. She keeps busy with the chores at home and raises hens to sell. She helps my father with her income. My father, Francisco Canil, is 36 years old. He makes a living in the field. He also grows beans for our consumption. He does his best for our family.

Nowadays, we need firewood and groceries, especially corn. Thankfully, we are all healthy. I turned twelve years old in June. I love celebrating my birthday with my family by eating a delicious lunch and a cake. I attend school as a sixth grader. I learn and understand more thanks to the face-to-face classes. Unfortunately, my father’s job is unstable. Besides that, he does not earn enough money to support all the expenses at home and my school equipment. I would love to have my own grocery store to make a living when I am older. I also would like to speak English someday. Christmas is my favorite time because of the tasty tamales and sweet hot fruit punch. I like juices, especially if they are California juices.
