My Story

Hi! It is a pleasure to greet you cordially and wish you a blessed day. First of all, my family and I are grateful to Living Water because I receive medical and dental attention in the LW clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. I want to let you know that we are attending the Catholic Church every Wednesday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for their encouraging words to my mother during the visit, so she is sure of her salvation in Jesus. My adopted mother´s name is Juana Simaj Riz. She is 66 years old. At the moment, she continues doing chores at home and she weaves typical clothes.  Moreover, she raises chickens, cows, and a pig to sell and get some income and support me economically. I ask for your prayers for her because she suffers from body pains.  Fortunately, in the past, she visited the doctor, and she was taking medicine, but now she does not continue with her medical treatment due to a lack of money. Thankfully, I am in good health.

My name is Deisy Vanessa Chingo Simaj, and I am 15 years old. This year I am in 8th grade at school. I receive face-to-face classes daily and am learning a lot about topics with this study method and I spend more time with my classmates. Fortunately, my mother is making an effort to support me at school despite the school fees being so expensive. In the future, I want to become an engineer. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn English because I think this is a very interesting language around the world. Coca-Cola is what I prefer to drink.  My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because I like to spend that day with my family. What I like to do for my birthday is to prepare delicious food for lunch and share it with my family. Among sports, I prefer soccer. As a humble family, our needs are groceries. We grow corn for our family`s consumption. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through Living Water Adopt-A-Child every December. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. May God bless you greatly!

Lots of love,

Deisy Vanessa Chingo Simaj
