My Story

Hello! My name is Marta Elizabeth, and I am glad to introduce myself to you through this letter. My family and I attend a Christian Church on Saturdays. By God’s grace, my whole family and I are in good health. My father, Rosalio Pu Gutierrez, is 50 years old. He still makes a living as a farmer. Besides working for other people, he grows corn and beans for our consumption. My mother is a very busy housewife who works by washing clothes for other people twice a week. Her name is Santos Garcia Gutierrez, and she is 34 years old. We do not have assorted domestic animals at home. We only have hens. Taking advantage of this opportunity, I want you to know that LW is a great blessing for my family and me. My siblings and I can have delicious food at the feeding program.

I am 9 years old, and I am in second grade. I prefer to attend face-to-face classes because I learn lessons much better. I am glad because this method has helped me to do homework easily. I would like to become a teacher when I am older. I have a large family. Therefore, my parents have worked hard to support my siblings and me. However, he does not get enough income to cover our school supplies. Some of our needs are groceries, especially corn. My favorite holiday is Christmas because I love having tamales and spending lovely moments with my family. My favorite drink is Incaparina (it is a Guatemalan typical hot drink prepared with corn). I am a Kiche dialect speaker, but I would like to learn more about it to become an expert in my native language.  I get excited when my birthday is closer. What I love the most is having a special a sweet cake and breaking a pinata (it is a traditional birthday puppet made of wire and colorful tissue paper, full with candies) to celebrate a new year of life with my loved ones. I like sports, but my favorite is baseball. To end this letter, I want you to know that my mom helped me to give all this information to a teacher of LW. See you later!

With much love,

Marta Elizabeth Pu Garcia
