My Story

Hello, what a blessing to greet you! I am Michael and I hope you find my last news engaging. My family and I still attend the Prince of Peace Church. We usually attend our services twice a week. My father, Carlos Ajqui, is 38 years old. He works as a farmer and day laborer. Besides that, he sometimes makes a living as a mason’s helper. My mother, Elidia Tzoy, is 34 years old. She sells granizadas (shaved or crushed ice combined with syrups, fruits, condensed milk, and honey if it is sweet or lemon juice, salt, and tamarind if it is salty) during the plaza days of the market. She helps my father to pay some expenses with her income. Fortunately, they are healthy. Our priorities are food supplies because it is hard to buy them nowadays. To survive, we raise hens and pigs. Besides that, we grow corn and beans for our consumption. I turned thirteen years old in April. What I love the most is having a delicious cake to celebrate my birthday with my family.

I am a fifth grader again. Undoubtedly, attending school is better; I can clear up my doubts about homework easily Fortunately, my father has not had trouble covering my school needs. I want to become a lawyer when I am older. I also hope to improve my Spanish speaking someday. My native language is the Quiche dialect. I like the rainy season because I love playing under the rain. My favorite drink is coffee and soccer is my favorite sport. To end this letter, I want you to know that a teacher of the LW evangelism team spoke with my father. He collected this information for you and encouraged my father to strengthen his faith in our savior, the Almighty. Undoubtedly, the feeding program is a great blessing. My brother Michael and I can receive tasty and warm food. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter! I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely yours,

Michael Anthony Ajqui Tzoy
