My Story

I am so excited to greet you through this letter; God bless you! Praise the Lord my family and I continue attending Prince of Peace Church; we go twice per week. We appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us; we have already Jesus in our heats. By the grace of God, we are in good health. My mother is Manuela de la Cruz Garcia, and she is 43 years old. She does the housework and watches over my siblings and me. Moreover, she also goes to wash clothes for our neighbors to get income. She also raises hens and pigs. My father is Daniel Ramos de la Cruz, and he is 44 years old. He is employed as both a farmer and a day laborer. Furthermore, he goes to pick coffee beans on the coast for about four months. We grow corn and black beans for the family's consumption.

I am Norma Ramos de la Cruz, and I am 11 years old. I am repeating first grade; I receive classes at school, and I comprehend better when my teacher is explaining the lessons. I also like to meet with my classmates. I appreciate the effort my parents are making to supply what I need at school, but it is hard for them because they have the home expenses too. My dream is to continue with my studies and become a teacher in the future. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect, and I would like to learn to speak Spanish because I would like to communicate better with other people. The sport I like the most is football. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina”, which is delicious and is my favorite drink. I like Christmas time because people light colorful firecrackers; the show around is cool. Something I would love on my birthday is to receive gifts; it must be fantastic. I take this opportunity to give thanks for all the support I receive through Living Water; the meals and medical care are a great blessing for me, and it is an economic savings for my parents. At home, the primary needs for us are groceries and corn. Sending much love and hoping to receive news from you very soon. Every kind of blessing to you!

Huge hugs,

Norma Ramos de la Cruz
