My Story

I hope you are having a blessed day with your lovely family! This time the LW staff shared the gospel and gave us encouraging words to seek God, and we thank them so much. We realized that we need God in each step we take. This time I have to tell you about something really sad that I went through in my life so, I beg for your prayers for me. Unfortunately, I was kidnapped and sexually abused on February 13th of this year. The delinquents asked for money, but we are a poor and humble family, so my mother could not give them any money. Sadly, they abused and hurt me for three days, and then, they abandoned me in the street. It has been a horrible nightmare for me. At the moment, I am taking psychological assistance to overcome this episode and try to go ahead with my life. In addition, I am taking antiretroviral therapy to protect myself and avoid getting infected by HIV because of rape. Due to this situation, my mother asked my teacher for virtual classes because I did not want to go to school. However, they did not allow me, so I attend school, but I am ashamed to go. Recently, we also moved to another house because my mother thinks it is not an appropriate place to continue living.

I am Estrella Lisset Carrera Aguilar, and I am already 13 years old. I am in 7th grade; my classes are at school. Unfortunately, my mother is the only one who covers the home expenses and school; it is hard for her. I desire to continue with my studies and someday become a doctor. Also, I would like to learn English; I think it is very interesting language. The sport I like the most is basketball. I like holidays, and my favorite is Holy Week because I rest at home. Of all drinks my favorite is Coca-cola. Something I love on my birthday is going out someplace, and if my mother can, we go. My mother is Antonia Aguilar Lopez, and she is 33 years old. She earns a living by making tortillas to supply our home needs. My father is Byron Giovanni Carrera Mejia, and he is 52 years old. He no longer lives with us since about 10 months ago, and we do not have communication with him. Even though, he was living with us, he hardly ever contributed economically. Being part of Living Water has been a big blessing for me and my family because I have received support in many ways, and they have been praying for us, especially in the hardest times we are going through. The greatest needs are groceries. So long. May God bless you always!

Kind regards,

Estrella Lisset Carrera Aguilar
