My Story

Wishing you a beautiful day with your loved ones! We thank the LW staff because they shared the gospel and gave us encouraging words to seek God and look for a church to go to. At the moment, we are not attending church because my father does not allow us. We pray that my father changes his mind and can attend church with us someday. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My biological father abandoned me, and I do not know anything about him. My mother is Sandra Jimon, and she is 29 years old. She is a housewife and raises hens and pigs. She also goes to sell herbs in Zacualpa´s market to contribute to the income. My father is Diego Ruiz Gutierrez, and he is 40 years old. He works by farming the land in our village, and he is covering the home expenses. We grow corn for our consumption, and we also harvest bananas and mangoes.

I am Diego Yobany Ruiz Jimon, and I turn 8 years old in July of this year. I am in 1st grade; I am learning a lot since my classes are at school. My parents are doing their best to support me at school even though the school supplies are expensive. When I grow up, I would like to work hard and get into the cattle business. I speak Spanish and I would like to learn to speak Kiche´ Mayan dialect. I like summer because I can play outside with my siblings and friends. The sport I like the most is football. On my birthday, I enjoy playing with my siblings, I feel so happy sharing with them. At Christmas, my family and I enjoy eating “tamales” (a typical dish) which are delicious. My mother prepares “Incaparina” (it is a hot drink). Being part of the feeding program is a great blessing for me since I receive a tasty meal and dental and medical attention which is a big help for me and my siblings. As a family, our greatest needs are shoes and clothes. I send much love, and I hope to receive news from you soon. Many blessings!

Lots of love,

Diego Yobany Ruiz Jimon
