My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope you have a wonderful and brilliant day. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. First of all, my family and I are grateful to Living Water because I receive medical and dental attention in the clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. I want to tell you that we continue attending the Catholic Church. As a family, we are grateful to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel with us and for their encouraging words during the visit. My mother`s name is Antonia Benito Sac. She is 35 years old. Currently, she continues doing chores at home. In addition, she raises hens and pigs to sell and get some income. My father`s name is Oscar Anibal Pastor Gomez. He is 37 years old. He continues earning a living by working as a farmer and day laborer. We grow corn for our family´s consumption and green tomatoes for sale. As a humble family, our current needs are groceries, clothes, and shoes. Thankfully, my family and I are in good health.

My name is Jose Bartolo Pastor Benito and I am 14 years old. Unfortunately, this year I am repeating 5^th grade at school. I receive face-to-face classes every day and I am learning a lot with this study method because my teachers teach me better. Nowadays, my father is making an effort to support me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive, and sometimes, it is difficult to cover all school expenses since he does not have a stable job. My dream is to travel to the United States and look for a job in order to support my family.  My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish in order to improve my communication with others. Christmas is my favorite celebration of the year because our custom is to light fireworks. I like to drink coffee. Among sports, I prefer soccer. What I like for my birthday is to sing a song called “Happy Birthday to You”. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through LW Adopt-A-Child every December.
