My Story

It is my pleasure to greet you in this opportunity, and I hope you are receiving many blessings from God! Praise the Lord my family and I attend Catholic Church; we go once per week. We trust our salvation in Christ. My family and I are in good health, thanks to the Lord. My father is Rolando de la Cruz Alvarez, and he is 32 years old. He lives and works in the United States. He feeds cows on a farm. He keeps in touch with us and faithfully sends us economic support. My mother is Rosa Barrera Hernandez, and she is 33 years old. She does housework and embroiders fabric napkins to sell and get some income. In addition, she raises hens. At home, we grow corn and black beans for the family's consumption.

I am Ashly Micaela Gregoria De La Cruz Barrera, and I am a 10-year-old girl. I am a fourth-grade student; my classes are face-to-face, and I comprehend better how to do the homework. Nowadays, school supplies are very expensive, and it is hard for my parents to cover them because of a lack of resources. I want to continue with my studies and prepare myself to get a good job in the future. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect. I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it so that I can communicate better with other people. My favorite drink is Pepsi Cola. The sport I like the most is football. I wait so excited for Christmas time because I receive a Christmas gift in the feeding program; it is very special for me. Something I would like to have on my birthday is a cake to share with my family; it must be so special. Being part of Living Water has been a great blessing for me because I receive tasty meals, and medical care in the clinics which is so helpful for me and my family.
