My Story

Hello! I fondly greet you from Guatemala. I am Jorge Yordany Riz Garcia, your sponsored child. I hope you are doing well. I want to share that I am a healthy 11-year-old boy. I am in third grade again. I have a lot of fun playing soccer and marbles with my best friend, Byron. I want to open my heart and tell you that losing my father was the most impactful experience I have had. As you remember, he passed away many years ago. Fortunately, I can count on Jesus, the Lord. I feel His love and comfort when I pray. I want to share that I identify with my mother because our physical features are similar. She works as a domestic employee and sells herbs at the market in Zacualpa village on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Besides that, my mother makes tortillas to earn a little extra money. I want to use this opportunity to ask you to pray for her health situation. She went to a public hospital in Xela City, Quetzaltenango. At that time, doctors prescribed some medicine and vitamins to balance her hormones. They also asked her to do some labs and an ultrasound. One of my uncles helped her economically to pay for the medical exams. She had an appointment at the hospital to find out the results of the exams, but she could not attend it because of a lack of economic resources. We are grateful to LW because the doctor looked at the results of the labs and ultrasound for free. He told my mother that her lab results are normal, but he advised her to go to a urologist to hear his point of view. As for the ultrasound, the doctor told her that it showed some abnormalities, and due to that, she should go to a gynecologist, too. I pray she can do it soon. Let me tell you that my mother established a new relationship a while ago. Her partner works as a day laborer, but his income is low. As for our spiritual life, let me tell you that my family and I attend the Prince of Peace Church. The most exciting activity at church is the Thanksgiving service for the anniversary.
