My Story

This is Omar Eliseo Gutierrez Barrera, and I greet you in Jesus’ name. I am writing to tell you about my life. First, I will tell you about my family. Currently, we attend services on Friday and our church’s name is Prince of Peace. We have accepted Jesus in our hearts. We are a humble family, and our greatest needs are groceries and clothing soap. We have hens and pigs at home. We also grow corns and black beans, and it is for our consumption. My father’s name is Alejandro, and he is 29 years old. He does not live with us since a couple of years ago, but he was supporting us. Sadly, he now has another family and no longer sends us money; he works as a mason. My mother’s name is Rogelia. She is 28 years old, and she is in good health. She weaves typical blouses and sells her hens to cover our needs.

Now let me tell you a little about myself. I am 10 years old, and I am healthy. I am in third grade, and it is better for me to study at school because I learn more. It has been difficult for my mother to cover my school expenses because she sometimes does not have enough money for it. I want to graduate as a teacher in the future. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because we eat “tamales” and light fireworks. I love drinking coffee, and I prefer soccer as a sport. I enjoy my birthday because my family buys me a cake. I speak Quiche dialect as my first language, so I have to improve my Spanish and I would like to learn English. Living Water is very important for me because many families, like mine, are being blessed with food and medicine. I hope you find my letter interesting.

Many blessings

Omar Eliseo Gutierrez Barrera
