My Story

It is a beautiful day to say hello to you and I trust in God that you are fine! This time LW staff shared the gospel with us and encouraged us to look for a church and seek God; we appreciate the advice. We are going to think about attending church. Please pray for my father´s health; he is sick from his liver and ulcers on both knees; he has visited the doctor and is under medical observation. My mother is Juana Lindo Tino, and she is 41 years old. She is a housewife, but tries to get income, and she goes to wash clothes with our neighbors three times per week. In addition, she raises hens and pigs. My father is Maximiliano Hernandez Simaj, and he is 42 years old. He is employed as both a farmer and a day laborer; he does his best for our family. Fortunately, my older siblings are working as day laborers and help us with some money. My father grows corn and black beans for our consumption.

I am Emely Elizabeth Hernandez Lindo, and I am a 15-year-old girl. This year I attended 7th grade; my classes were at school which helped me a lot. Supporting me at school was hard for my parents because of a lack of resources, especially now that everything is expensive, and they have other expenses to cover. My dream is to continue with my studies and become a teacher someday. The language I would like to learn is English; it is so interesting. Football is the sport I like the most. At Christmas, my mother prepares “tamales” (a typical dish) and I like to help her to make them; we enjoy them at Christmas Eve dinner. Let me tell you that my favorite drinks are coffee and “Incaparina” (it is a protein beverage made in Guatemala). I get so happy when my birthday comes, I get new clothes and my family buys a cake to celebrate with me. I thank God for blessing me with meals through Living Water; all the support I receive is so helpful for me and \my family. At home, our primary needs are noodles, sugar, black beans and corn. I say goodbye to you for now. Every blessing for you!

Hugs and much love,

Emely Elizabeth Hernandez Lindo
