My Story

It is a pleasure sending you my greetings through this; God bless you! This time the LW staff shared the gospel and encouraging words to seek God and look for a church to go to; we are going to think about it. Thankfully, I am healthy and so is my family. My father is Bacilio Benito Luis, and he is 38 years old. He makes a living by making tiles and bricks in a factory; he supports us in that way. My mother is Juana de la Cruz Quino, and she is 46 years old. She tries to contribute to the income by selling food with a lady, and she goes on Thursdays.

I am Marcelina Benito De La Cruz, and I am a 17-year-old girl. I no longer attend school after sixth grade. Since then, I have been helping my mother with chores at home. I desire to have my own business so that I can support myself. My native language is Kiche´ Mayan dialect, and I can speak a little Spanish, but I want to improve it and communicate better with other people. Running is the sport I like the most because of the speed. Something I love to do on my birthday is singing the happy birthday song because it is so special for me. At home, we prepare “atol de masa” (it is hot beverages made with dough, sugar and cinnamon), and it is delicious.  One custom of my village is to eat bread with honey on Holy Week. My family and I are so grateful to Living Water for all the support I receive; it is a big blessing for me and my siblings. At home, the greatest needs are groceries, corn and clothes. This is all for now. So long. Many and rich blessings!

Special regards,

Marcelina Benito De La Cruz
