My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you and wish you many successes in your daily activities. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. My name is Mateo Agusto Pu De La Cruz, and I am 12 years old. This year I am in 5th grade at school. I continue receiving face-to-face classes every day and I understand all about every topic. Thank God, my parents are making an effort to support my brother and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that they do not have a stable job. My dream is to become a teacher. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. Moreover, I want to learn English; I think this is a very interesting language. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because our custom is to eat “tamales” (a typical dish) and share it with my family. I like to drink “mosh” (a hot beverage made of oatmeal). What I like for my birthday is to eat a cake and special food for lunch. Football is my favorite sport. As a big and humble family, our current needs are groceries and corn. Thank God, my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Clara De La Cruz Morente. She is 51 years old. At the moment, she continues doing chores at home and raises hens, pigs, sheep, and cows also to sell and get some income in order to help my father with home expenses. My father`s name is Juan Pu Gutierrez. He is 60 years old. Currently, he earns a living by working as a farmer and day laborer. We grow corn and black beans for our family`s consumption. I want to let you know that we continue attending Prince of Peace Church every Monday and Saturday. Thank you to the LW evangelism team for the encouraging words during the visit, so I am sure of my salvation in Jesus. My family and I are grateful to you and to Living Water because thanks to your support I receive medical and dental attention in the clinics. In addition, I have a meal and spiritual support at the Feeding Program. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through LW Adopt-A-Child in December and for everything you have done for me. I hope you enjoy reading my letter. May God reward you in every area of your life!

Warm regards,

Mateo Agusto Pu De La Cruz
