My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you through this letter and wishing you are doing fine alongside your loved ones. In this opportunity, I want to share some news about my family and me. My mother`s name is Catarina Simaj Luis. She is 43 years old. Currently, she continues doing chores at home and taking care of us. In addition, she embroiders napkins to sell and get some income. We have 2 goats, 1 cat, and 1 dog at home. My father`s name is Antonio Chivalan.  He is 45 years old. He continues earning a living by working as a day laborer and he goes to the coast to clean coffee plantations and pick coffee beans along with the whole family from November to January for the harvest season. We grow corn, black beans, and peaches for our family's consumption. Our current needs are corn and groceries because we are big and a humble family. At the moment, we continue attending the Prince of Peace Church every Monday.  Thank you to the LW evangelism team who shared the gospel and for the encouraging words that they shared with my older sister during the visit, so we are sure of our salvation in Jesus. We received Jesus in our hearts at Church. By the grace of God, my family and I are in good health.

My name is Romeo Lucas Chivalan Simaj and I am 12 years old. This year, I am in 4th grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes every day and I like this study method because I learn a lot and I play with my classmates. At the moment, my parents are making an effort to support me and my sister at school even though they do not have stable jobs and school fees are expensive. In the future, I want to work as a farmer in order to support my family. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn Spanish and improve my communication with others. My favorite season of the year is winter because rain is necessary for crops. I like to drink “mosh” (a hot beverage made of oatmeal) and “Incaparina” (a hot beverage made of soy flour). What I like to do for my birthday is to have a “piñata” (a kind of poppet full of candies). I prefer soccer as my sport. My family and I are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. Thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive through LW Adopt-A-Child in December. I hope you like my letter. May God bless you greatly!

Warm wishes,

Romeo Lucas Chivalan Simaj
