My Story

Hello! My name is Pedro, and I have the privilege to introduce myself to you through this letter. My family and I attend Prince of Peace Church on Fridays. We are a large family. Some of our needs are clothes, blankets, and groceries like atoles (typical hot beverages). My father, Gregorio Garcia Calachij, is 40 years old. He still works as a farmer and day laborer for other people to support our needs. Besides that, he grows corn for our consumption. My mom keeps busy doing chores and raising our hens to sell. She sometimes sells herbs at La Plaza in our town to help my father with her income. Her name is Paula Garcia Simaj, and she is 38 years old. Fortunately, my whole family and I have been in good health so far. Taking advantage of this moment, I want you to know that LW has been a great help for me. Thanks to your loving support, we have had delicious food.

I am 17 years old, and nowadays, I keep busy working as a day laborer to help my family economically. I am working hard to do my job well. I hope to become one of the best day laborers in my community. Christmas is my favorite time of the year because we have delicious tamales and burn firecrackers. I am a native Kiche dialect speaker. I know a little Spanish, but I would love to improve my skills to become an expert in that language. My birthday was in November. Unfortunately, I did not celebrate it because my family does not have the economic resources to do it. My favorite sport is soccer, and I love drinking coffee. To end this letter, I want you to know that my mom helped me to give all this information to a teacher of LW. Thank you so much for reading my letter!

Special regards,

Pedro Julio Garcia Garcia
