My Story

I greet you fondly, hoping you are having a fantastic day with your loved ones. This is Jenifer Lucia, and I want to share my news with you through this letter. My family and I attend the Assembly of God Church three times weekly. My father, Jose Gomez, is 54 years old. He makes a living as a day laborer while my mother keeps busy with the household chores. Her name is Marcelina De La Cruz and she is 56 years old. Thankfully, nobody is sick at home, including myself. Nowadays, everything is expensive. We need new clothes. Our economic resources are limited, but we do our best to survive. We raise hens and pigs. Besides that, we grow corn, beans, chayote, bananas, peaches, and apples for our consumption. I will have my birthday in October. Thinking about it excites me a lot! What I love the most is having delicious cakes and a piñata (a traditional birthday puppet) to celebrate with my family.

I no longer attend school because my parents do not have enough resources to support my school equipment. I was in fourth grade last year. Therefore, I use my free time to help my mother with the chores and feed our pigs. My biggest dream is to work in a big grocery store to earn my own money. My favorite holiday is New Year’s Day because a new year starts. There is nothing better than starting a new year with happiness and health. Natural juices are good, but my favorite is pineapple juice. If someday I could learn how to speak a new language, I would love to try English. Soccer is the most popular sport, but I prefer basketball. Before ending this letter, I want you to know that LW is a tremendous help because of the tasty food and gifts. To let you know a little bit about my life, a teacher of the evangelism team spoke with my older sister Olga. He also encouraged my family and me through my sister to continue trusting in the Almighty. See you later!

With much love,

Jenifer Lucia Gomez De La Cruz
