My Story

I wish you a brilliant day and hope you are doing fine alongside your loved ones. I am so happy to be sharing with you a little about my family and me. This is Elena Maricela Gomez De La Cruz, and I am 13 years old. My mother is Maria De La Cruz Cux and she is 46 years old. She continues doing chores at home. In addition, she raises hens to sell and get some income. At home, we grow corn for our family’s consumption. My father`s name is Carlos Gomez Calachij and he is 50 years old. He earns a living by going to the coast to work as a day laborer all year. He comes to visit the family only twice a year. At the moment, we continue attending the Prince of Peace Pentecostal Church every Wednesday. Thankfully, the Living Water evangelism team encouraged us to continue seeking God and trust in him.

Thank God, the last year I passed the grade at school, and now, I am in 3rd. grade. I am learning a lot because I receive face-to-face classes from Monday to Friday. My parents do not have a stable job, so it is very hard for them to support me at school. Later, I would like to become a good merchandiser to help my family. I speak my native language Maya Quiche, but I am interested in learning Spanish to improve my communication with other people. I enjoy Christmas time because we eat “tamales” (a typical dish). My favorite beverage is “atol de maiz” (a hot drink made of corn and sugar). On my birthday, I enjoy eating a delicious cake. Among sports, my favorite is athletics. By the grace of God, my family and I are in good health. My family and I are so grateful to LW because we have been blessed in different ways with meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support. I also feel so happy when I receive the Christmas gift.  We are a humble family. So, our current needs are corn and groceries. Sending all my love to you!

Kisses and hugs,

Elena Maricela Gomez De La Cruz
