Hello dearest sponsor! How are you? I hope that you are doing well. I am very happy to be writing this letter for you. My desire is to share with you about my family. My father works as a farmer growing corn and beans for our own use and to sell in order to make a little money. My mother and my siblings are doing well. My mother takes care of us and weaves typical blouses and belts to sell and make a little bit of money. She also has some domestic animals that she sells to help my father with the household expenses. I have seven siblings: five brothers and two sisters. My brothers work with my father and my sisters help my mother to weave. I also have one little brother who is studying. I wash dishes, do the cleaning and give food to the hens. Occasionally, I work with my father on the farm. I also like to weave and I am learning how to embroider blouses so that I can help my mother with a little money. I really like to cook. I am no longer studying because my father had to support all of us, and he did not have the necessary resources.
My wish is to be able to leave my community and to work in another municipality. I celebrate Christmas with my family. My mother prepares tamales and ponche (typical food and hot fruit beverage). My brothers light firecrackers. It is a day that I really enjoying sharing time with my family. I really like the services that they have in my church. I also enjoy going to the fair in Zacualpa. I get to see the parade and to go on the mechanical rides. We go to a Catholic church and when I go to the meeting, I like to sing and to praise God. All of my family attends church. When we encounter some problem, we pray in order to find a solution. God bless you with many blessings.
Blessings and much love,
Cristina Calachij Morente
